Julianne Hough feeling phenomenal after Surgery

Thursday, November 6, 2008

Five days after having surgery for endometriosis, Julianne Hough tells PEOPLE she’s “feeling phenomenal. I am still walking slow but I’m feeling good.”

The 20-year-old two-time Dancing champ was taken to the hospital following the October 21 DWTS live results show for what initially was believed to be severe stomach pains.

Her personal physician determined she was suffering from endometriosis, a condition in which the uterine lining forms tissue outside of the uterus. On October 28, Hough underwent a nearly two-hour procedure to remove her appendix, a cyst on her ovary, and scar tissue that had formed on her bladder and fallopian tubes.

Dr. Randy S. Harris, tells PEOPLE Hough “should be able to dance again in about a week. She was exhausted and a little dehydrated, so that’s why she needs to get a little more rest.”

Hough was nursed back to health by her mom, Mariann Nelson, and her boyfriend, country singer Chuck Wicks, who she says “got to see me at my lowest point. You can really tell when someone loves you because they mean it. They are not just taking care of you because you need it, they WANT to take care of you. He’s a sweetheart.”

Hough, who’s on tap to host the Country Music Association Awards pre-show on November 12, is anxious to return to Dancing and reunite with her season seven partner, actor Cody Linley.

“I miss her so much. She’s my best friend,” says Linley, who’s since been partnered with pro Edyta Sliwinska while Hough recuperates. –Monica Rizzo
