On the eve of his inauguration, Barack Obama made several stops including a dinner in honor of Senator John McCain.

Obama took to the stage and spoke kind words about his former rival. The President-elect called McCain an American hero and assured the dinner guests that they have put their rivalry behind them, reports MSNBC.

Obama also attended dinners honoring retired General Colin Powell and Vice President-elect Joe Biden.
