She may be world famous, have millions of dollars to her name and make news for running without a sports bra, but Miley Cyrus has a message for her fans:

She's a real person... just like you!

As the 16-year old's autobiography, "Miles to Go," hits shelves this week, the singer spoke to People Magazine about her motivation for having a ghost writer try to round up sympathy for this teenage icon releasing it.

"Most of the time you see me smiling – I mean that's how I got my name! – but that's not what it's all about. Everyone goes through hardships and heartbreaks," she said.

In the book, Miley touches on:

• Daily hazing from bullies in sixth grader;
• Her first love, referred to as "Prince Charming," but known to everyone else as Nick Jonas;
• Her close-knit family, who Cyrus says was closely involved in the writing of the autobiography.

So, why open up in this way, Miley?

"I want my fans to feel closer to me," she said, leaving out the part about charging them money to do so, just like she did at her 16th birthday party last year.
