Obama Health Care Logo Sparks Controversy

Friday, August 7, 2009
Posted by admin

Debate over the health care plan championed by U.S. President Barack Obama is turning rancorous, with figures on both sides of the discussion lobbing harsh criticism at the other and even the Obama health care logo coming under attack.

As we saw with this week's Obama Joker poster, which brandished the word "socialism" and likened the Prez to Heath Ledger's character in The Dark Knight, there has been vehement opposition to some of the President's policy initiatives.

Addressing some of the opposition she has encountered, the U.S. Speaker of the House and universal health care advocate, Nancy Pelosi, recently accused protesters at Democratic health care town hall meetings of carrying swastikas.

In response, the website Sweetness and Light likened the Obama health care logo to a swastika and compared Democrats to Nazis. Makes perfect sense.

Here's the Obama health care logo ...

Obama Health Care Logo

Fairly innocuous, right? Not according to Sweetness and Light, which proves that if you look hard enough, one can find a swastika hidden in anything ...

Obama Health Care Logo 1Obama Health Care Logo 2Obama Health Care Logo 3

There you have it. The President must be a Nazi.

According to Sweetness and Light, which fashioned the controversial photo comparison seen above, the Nazis and the Democrats are both:

"Against big banks and capitalism, against big stores, against pollution, for two years mandatory voluntary service to the country, for make-work projects, against cruelty and to animals, against smoking, for abortion and for universal health care."

Just another day of modern American political discourse.

Barack Obama Throws Out First Pitch at MLB All-Star Game: Photos

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Last night in St. Louis, Mo., the President of the United States kicked off the MLB All-Star Game by delivering a strike (or at least a ball over the plate) to Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols. The Prez donned a White Sox jacket in honor of his favorite team ...

Delivery

Barack Obama takes the hill at Busch Stadium.

Before delivering the first pitch, Obama met with stars such as Derek Jeter, Josh Beckett and "homeboy" Shane Victorino, and took a moment to reflect on his upcoming task. Looks like his "No-Drama Obama" nickname also applies to sports.

Great Moments in Ogling: Obama Checking Out Girl

Friday, July 10, 2009

Hey, most of us have been there at some point, right guys?

Most of us are not President of the United States, however.

A photo of Barack Obama allegedly "checking out" a girl in Italy is making the online rounds. His eyes appear to be fixated squarely on that booty.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy appears to find this issue compelling as well ...

Obama Checking Out Girl

Whether or not he's really ogling the female in question, said to be Mayara Tavares, 17, a junior G8 delegate from Brazil, is something we can't possibly say for sure.

It would be a pretty big blunder by the Prez if true, but either way, it's comical, and The Drudge Report's caption for the pic, "Seconds Stimulus Package!" is classic.

Fox News' "When in Rome..." isn't quite as good, but still decent.

Obama Family To Welcome First Dog

Monday, April 13, 2009

Breaking political news: Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama are finally welcoming their new puppy to the White House!

The black Portuguese water dog comes from a kennel in Texas. It was sold to a family who gave it back, so will be "re-homed" to the first family.

Shrewd move by Barack Obama, choosing a rejected dog who needs a second home. Not only is it nice, but animal rights peeps will go less insane.

The six-month-old dog is named Charlie, though the Obamas will rename it.

A website, FirstDogCharlie.com, claims to have a photo of him! See below!

The First Dog: Charlie!Splash the Kennedy Portuguese Water Dog

The alleged (and cute!) First Dog, left, and his relative Splash, right, who belongs to U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy. Portuguese Water Dogs are hypoallergenic.

Charlie will be presented to the family by U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, whose own Portuguese water dogs, Splash and Sunny, are from the same kennel. Sasha and Malia's new pet is actually from the same lineage as the Kennedy dogs.

The arrival of the First Pet has been a hot topic - almost as much so as Michelle Obama fashion - ever since the president promised his daughters Malia and Sasha, ages 10 and 6, that they would get a puppy if he were elected to the presidency.

After taking office, the U.S. President said they'd get a dog in the spring, as the family itself would still be getting acclimated to its new digs prior to that, and the warmer weather would make his daughters more apt to walk it.

The Portuguese Water Dog was a natural fit for the Obamas because of Malia's allergies - the breed is one of the few that are completely hypoallergenic.

According to Michelle Obama, the young girls have floated Frank and Moose as possible names for their forthcoming furry friend.

** UPDATE: The First Dog has arrived! Earlier today, a 6-month-old Portuguese Water Dog named Bo was delivered to The White House. Check out a photo of him NOW!

Michelle & Carla lock Lip Lock

Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni Sarkozy

Carla Bruni Sarkozy. Slim, gorgeous, great clothes and even more gorgeous. No first lady ever wants to be photographed with her ? no one likes to lose in comparision you see. But then along came Michelle Obama. True, she may not be as conventionally drop dead wow, but that woman eludes power, poise and calm. Michelle stole hearts, got famous in a minute and eyes follow her all around. So for Carla to be J, is all so normal.
So we all expected a French- American war of the beauties to begin when Carla and Michelle met for the first time in Strasbourg. Instead look on ? here?s what we got!

Ahhhhh… What's happening?… Pipe down people, yes they did kiss- but not on the lips. ?tis is just a little trick ? or mistake by the camera. Wrong angles can work wonders can it not? So while lives were not lost ? a different war struck! A war of the wardrobes that is...and lets see who won.

Michellecarlaround1.jpg

Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni Sarkozy- Reuters
Round 1: April 3, 2009

Spotted Obama Michelle in a dark coat that you can knot at the neck with weird magenta flowers and weirder tiny spots all over. Shoes ? shiny, pointy and pretty.

Spotted Sarkozy Carla Bruni in a calm grey coat ? also knotted at the neck with a trendy belt. Shoes- ballerina dull and in need of some polish.

And after some meditation I hereby declare Carla Bruni Sarkozy the winner of round one ? War of the Wardrobes.

Round 2: Same day April 3, 2009
Spotted Obama Michelle in conversation with Sarkozy Carla Bruni - - - COATS OFF! Michelle?s coat colours are used on the reverse on her dress i.e Shiny magenta fabric with weird navy blue flowers and weirder tiny spots all over ? but its better than the coat.

Sarkozy wearing a darker-than-coat grey dress with satin around the neck and buttons down the front.

And after some more meditation (I?m attaining enlightenment soon) I?d say Carla is the winner ? simply because I?d never wear Michelle?s dress ? would you?

carlamichelleblack.jpg

Round 3 : Once again ? later on the same day
Spotted (yawn again) This time they?re in black! Michelle is wearing a trendy A-line, knee length, net trimmed black number. Carla wearing nice peep-toes, and a simple yet designer looking fitted dress.

And the winner of black is back is...(drumrolls please)… MICHELLE OBAMA- for trying out something not "her" and still carrying it off!

michellecarlaround4.jpg

Round 4: April 4th, 2009
A new day means?… A new outfit my sillies

Spotted Michelle O in a black tailored suit with a bow on her shirt and something printed and purple under the jacket that I can?t seem to figure out.

Spotted on her right, Carla Bruni in a lovely lavender long coat with lovely black pants and top. Please check- her purple printed scarf has doubled up into a belt ? how very French.

Winner is? Well its Mrs Sarkozy all the way.

So when you tally up the scores Carla Bruni wins. Too bad because Michelle does out-shine in every other way. But I guess that does mean it takes more than clothes to win hearts.

Michelle Obama: My Husband Doesn't Understand Fashion

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Michelle Obama has been labeled the "First Lady of Fashion" and even her husband, President Barack Obama, is taking notice, according to Michelle."Barack calls it my 'Star Trek' belt," Mrs. Obama said of her gray metallic belt in an interview with the New York Times and other reporters. "He doesn't understand fashion."

Michelle Obama: My Husband Doesn't Understand Fashion

"He's always asking: 'Is that new? I haven't seen that before.' It's like, Why don't you mind your own business? Solve world hunger. Get out of my closet," she said jokingly.

Michelle said her husband isn't a huge supporter of her shoe shopping. She said he tells her things like: "You didn't need any more shoes. The shoes you had on yesterday were fine. Why can't you just wear that for the rest of the presidency?"

President Barack Obama on the Tonight Show

Friday, March 20, 2009

Fresh from filling out NCAA brackets and trying to keep the U.S. from coming apart at the seams, President Barack Obama stopped by the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, the first time a sitting president has visited a late-night talk show.

While the economy was, as expected, the No. 1 topic, Barack Obama made observations a little less terrifying than America being a "culture of greed" that must change if the United States is going to pull itself out of the current financial crisis.

"In Washington, it's a little bit like American Idol except everyone is Simon Cowell," the president quipped. "Everybody's got an opinion."

Obama's visit followed the usual arc of celebrity talk show appearances: the funny thing that happened on the way to the show (the Secret Service not wanting him to walk); promoting the project (his economic agenda); and personal anecdotes.

Towards the end, the president made fun of his bowling ineptness, having posted a career-high 129 recently. "That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically.

"It's like the Special Olympics or something," Obama replied.

Ouch, Barack. This is the sort of remark that may be commonplace in modern humor, but is something you'd want the president to say, or even think?

Check out Barack Obama's full interview on the Tonight Show below ...

O Yeah: Michelle Obama Fashion craze Continues

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Up-and-coming fashion designer Jason Wu may have gotten major attention after he created Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown, but it looks like Michael Kors is running a close second with some non-TV-related press thanks to Mrs. O, too.

Michelle Obama: O Magazine Cover

Not only did Michelle Obama's White House portrait feature a black Kors ensemble, but she sports an eye-scorching blood orange (red?) dress on the April cover of O.

This is celebrity fashion news in and of itself, as the only person to ever grace the cover of O during its nine year history is, well, the Big O herself. We mean Oprah.

Bruce Weber shot the cover of the magazine, upon which Oprah is wearing Rachel Roy and touting this as the first interview Obama allowed in the White House.

Technically, wouldn't that honor belong to the already-released March issue of Vogue? Either way, do you like the dress Michelle wears on the new cover of O?

The wife of U.S. President Barack Obama has become our de facto celebrity style icon in-chief since he took office in January. She recently became the second First Lady to grace the cover of Vogue (after Hillary Rodham Clinton).

Sarah Palin Endures Jokes by Obama at Political roast

Monday, February 2, 2009

ET has details about a rousing roast hosted by President Barack Obama at which Sarah Palin was an unlikely guest.

Sarah Palin Endures Jokes by Barack Obama at Political Roast

The Alaksa governor arrived at the annual Alfalfa Dinner for Washington's political and business elite in an elegant black silk dress. A partygoer tells ET that Palin gave the president a lift of the eyebrow and showed she was a good sport while laughing at jokes during the dinner. Obama said he was a little surprised to see her at the event and gave her kudos for braving the crowd, the partygoer said.

Many of Obama's jokes were aimed at his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, according to excerpts of the roast released by the White House. "It was actually Rahm's idea to do the swearing-in ceremony again," he said. "Of course, for Rahm, every day is a swearing-in ceremony," Obama said about Emanuel, who is known for sometimes using foul language.

"Rahm Emanuel is a real sweetheart," Obama joked. "Every week the guy takes a little time away to give back to the community. Just last week he was at a local school, teaching profanity to poor children."
